Creation
God the Creator of All Things

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1, KJV
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This remarkable statement goes against what we learn in school.
The Big Bang Theory (it is a theory…) and the Theory of Evolution (another theory; not a fact) and God being the creator do not go well together.
This is where faith comes into play.
You have to simply believe that God was behind the creation rather than everything appearing from nothing for no reason.
From a personal perspective, it takes more faith to believe everything happened randomly through chance rather than there being an intelligent designer behind it all.
But to each their own.
All that being said, we learn more about the creation from the Bible:
“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
John 1:3, KJV
Now, this long passage explains who Jesus was and is.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
He came unto his own, but his own knew him not.
It is all about Jesus.
And reading this should change how some view Jesus.
We learn more in the book of Colossians:
“16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
Colossians 1:16-20, KJV
Once again we learn who created all things.
When I learned this, it completely changed my understanding about the Bible, and who Jesus really is.
And it also helped me understand this verse:
“I and my Father are one.”
John 10:30, KJV
And it also helps understand this verse:
“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”
John 20:28, KJV
The disciples of Jesus called Him Lord and God once they understood who He really was.
And Jesus suffered and died for us on top of all of this.
It is all quite remarkable.
We will get to experience this creation process when the New Heaven and the New Earth are made.
Now that is definitely something worth looking forward to.
I hope you’ve been blessed by today’s message.
I wish you a wonderful rest of your day.
Reflection:
What does creation reveal about God’s power and character?
How does knowing God is Creator shape your view of the world?
Prayer Suggestion:
”Lord, thank You for the beauty and order of creation. Open my eyes daily to see Your handiwork around me. Help me to honour You as the Creator and to be a faithful steward of the world You have made. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
