Discipleship
Following Jesus and helping others follow Him
“19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:19-20, KJV
Discipleship is not just something that happened back then.
It continues as a practice until today.
Christians are to consider themselves disciples of Jesus in the modern day.
We, too, are to teach all nations to observe the things Jesus taught His disciples to follow, and baptise those who have come to accept the gospel and are in need to be baptised.
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Luke 9:23, KJV
One of the major teachings that has been taught to us is to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow after Jesus.
This is something that happens every day, and not just once.
It is easier said than done, but it is possible to do it through the power of God; not through our own efforts.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”
John 8:31, KJV
If we continue in the words of Jesus, then we are His disciples indeed.
This is true even today.
We may not be perfect yet, but if you are working toward this goal and are eagerly waiting for His second coming, God will give you the strength to become what you are meant to be.
Let us continue on the narrow path toward salvation.
I hope you’ve been blessed by today’s message.
May you have a wonderful rest of your day.
Reflection:
Who is walking alongside you in your journey of faith?
How can you help others grow as disciples of Jesus?
Prayer Suggestion:
”Lord Jesus,
Thank You for calling me to follow You. Teach me to walk closely in Your steps and to deny myself daily. Show me how I can encourage others in their faith and be faithful in making disciples.
Amen.”
