Money & Wealth
Trusting God, not riches, as our true source

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
1 Timothy 6:10, KJV
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Money itself is not evil; it exists for a reason.
But there are many who could not live with less money than they currently have, and are quite willing to do anything to get more of it.
Then there are those who end up in a seemingly desperate situation.
As a result, they resort to desperate actions.
In both of these cases, they end up piercing themselves through with more than they can handle.
As Christians we should know to put our trust in God rather than our resources.
This is how to prioritise God with what you are given:
“9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
Proverbs 3:9–10, KJV
We should be prioritising tithing and alms, especially from the money that we get in our hands.
To honour our Lord should be the priority number one.
This means setting aside a certain percentage for tithes (10, 20, 30%, or more) and giving alms to those who need it.
You will find that generosity is far better than being stingy.
“For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.”
Ecclesiastes 7:12, KJV
Money, much like wisdom, is a defence to us.
But do not forget that what ever you own ultimately belongs to God.
It is a wise decision to ask before spending.
Bring it up to God in prayer and let Him decide how to spend the money you’ve got.
This is the wisest course of action for any believer.
And remember, it is better to give than to receive.
I hope you’ve been blessed by today’s message.
May you have a wonderful rest of your day.
Reflection:
How can money be both a blessing and a danger?
In what ways can you honour God with your finances?
Prayer Suggestion:
“Lord, help me to use money wisely and not let it control my heart. Teach me to honour You with my resources and to be content in all things. Amen.”
